What does God say about the sanctity of life?
Genesis 1:27,28 - "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,"
Genesis 2:7 - "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
What did our Founders say about the sanctity of life?
Thomas Jefferson - "The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government."
The Declaration Of Independence - "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life,.."
Amendment XIV U.S. Constitution - "Nor shall any state deprive any person of life,.."
When was America's darkest day?
On Monday, January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled 7-2, in the Roe v. Wade decision, that a Texas law preventing abortion except to save the life of the mother, unconstitutional. That ruling struck down all existing laws forbidding abortion. They said that there was no consensus as to when human life begins. But that didn't matter because they said the woman's right to privacy supersedes the right to life of the unborn-no matter when human life begins. Guess what, there is no such term as "the right to privacy" in the Constitution!
The evidence - Truth or Lies?
Planned Parenthood pamphlet 1965 - "An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun. It is dangerous to your life and health. It may make you sterile, so that when you want a child you cannot have it." Now Planned Parenthood claims that abortion is a "relatively benign procedure in terms of emotional effect."
We Made It Up - Before legalization, the figure of 10,000 deaths per year due to abortion was the figure used to influence politicians and judges. Dr. Bernard Nathanson was on the board of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws. He was responsible for some 60,000 abortions. When asked where the 10,000 figure came from he said, "We made it up. We thought it would impress the committees."
The Truth - In the early days of the abortion debate, before the Supreme Court decision, an editorial which appeared in California Medicine stated: "There is a curious avoidance of the scientific fact, which everyone really knows, that human life begins at conception."
Statistics
50 million abortions since Roe v. Wade
82% of all abortions are on unmarried women
57.5% of all abortions are on women using birth control
2% of women who have abortions will have life threatening complications
.68% of all abortions are for rape, incest, fetal defect, or the mother's life
The age group most likely to get abortions is 18 to 29
43% of women will have at least 1 abortion by age 45
Good News: Abortions have been declining in the last decade, from 1.8 million in 1990, to 1.2 million in 1997. That 1997 rate is the lowest point since 1975!
Now let's go back to God's Good News:
12 weeks old baby - "God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life"
20 week old baby - God said to Jeremiah, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you" (Jeremiah 1:5)
26 week old baby - "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
30 week old baby - David said, "For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." (Psalm 139:13-16)
May Be Legal, But Never Right!
In his Personhood Proclamation of January 14, 1988, former President Ronald Reagan declared: "That right to life belongs equally to babies in the womb, babies born handicapped, and the elderly or infirm. That we have killed the unborn for 15 years does not nullify this right, nor could any number of killings ever do so."
The unborn baby is an innocent martyr for God. Revelation 6:9,11 - "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, doest thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled."

A Bad Anniversary - 35 Years Since Roe v Wade
2008 marks the ominous 35th anniversary since the Supreme Court decision on Roe v Wade changed the moral compass in America forever. As a result, during 2008 we will have witnessed the murder of more than 50 million innocent, unborn babies. This is nothing more than an unthinkable genocide, willingly allowed by what is called the most civilized country on earth. There has been no other genocide in the history of modern man that even comes close to these kind of numbers. The effect on America's economy has been devastating as a result of the loss of 50 million potential taxpayers. What is even more unbelievable is the fact that American taxes have funded the majority of this infantacide, because of our government supported funding of Planned Parenthood. This must come to an end before God treats us as He did Sodom and Gomorrah, with complete destruction! You can help bring an awareness of this horrible anniversary in our nation's history, by using the materials listed below. Even though January is Sanctity of life month, with Sanctity of Life Sunday, these materials can be used all year long. Such a simple way to be Salt & Light and take a stand in your communities against the horrors of abortion.
